• Are there native drivers for MorphOS available?
No, it was announced but still not released. Please use the AmigaOS 3.x drivers.

  • Does the repulse run in a Draco computer?
Yes, Ignatios Souvatzis, the famous NetBSD programmer, has tested the repulse in his Draco and it works.

  • Which devices may I plug into the different internal and external inputs?
You may plug in any device that is designed to be connected to a normal AUX input. Usually these are devices like CD-ROM Players, Video Recorders, DAT Players, Tape Desks, Radio Tuners or your Amiga sound output (Paula). Do not connect your amplifier output to an input of your repulse as it outputs too much power. The microphone input breaks this rule, as it is designed to be used with microphones only. The CD input has a separate ground but may be used as the other AUX inputs.

  • There are rumors that the repulse soundcards do have production faults. Is that true?
No. Every repulse is tested in a real-live test in an Amiga Computer before it is sold. No untested boards will be sold. There was a press release from KDH which was interpreted in a wrong way. The correct info is that there were more repluses with production faults delivered to ALiENDESiGN by the companies that assemble and produce parts of the repulse than expected. We didn`t sell these cards as they didn`t pass our final test.

  • Why don`t the repulse analog inputs and mixer work until the repulse prefs or another program that uses the repulse is started?
The repulse.library has to be opened after coldstart to initialise the hardware. The hardware doesn`t work before the hardware initialization took place. The repulseinit tool, available in the download section, opens the repulse.library from the startup-sequence in order to initialise the hardware.

  • Why doesn`t my toccata software record anything?
The toccata emulation library doesn`t support recording yet.

  • When recording from S/P-DIF is the sound mixed or does it come down raw?
The sound is not mixed using S/P-DIF and the volume is not altered. But it is not raw at S/P-DIF level because this would include status information and similar.

  • How can I test the repulse hardware?
There is a tool called repulsetest on the CD that does extensive hardware testing.

  • When recording there is no data tranfered, no matter which sound software I use. Why?
You are most probably using a 24bit (HIFI) AHI Mode. Most software doesn`t support such modes. Please use a 16bit mode.

  • Does the soundcard REPULSE decode MP3?
No, not at this time. If there are enough interested people, we will start to develop a MP3 decoder module.

  • Is a MIDI Interface planned?
No, not at this time. Maybe there will be some on the expansion board.

  • How well does the Toccata emulation work? Does REPULSE work fine together with VLab Motion?
We try to build the Toccata emulation as well as possible to guarantee full compatibility.

  • Is a DSP on the soundcard?
No, not at this time. Maybe there will be some on the expansion board.

  • Are the outputs separately switchable?
Yes. All outputs can be separately switched on and off and all of them can be activated simultaneously.

  • Can there be more than one input be used at a time? (multitrack recording)
Yes. All analog inputs can be recorded simultaniously or separat. The S/P-DIF input can only be used separat.

  • Will there be support for more then one REPULSE soundcard within one computer?
Yes. It is possible to use more than one soundcard in a computer and to communicate with each of it separately. The only limit is giving by Zorro II bus.

  • Will there be a Zorro III version of the REPULSE?
No. Right now there is no plan of building that.

  • Will there be a Fast-Zorro II or a Zorro 4 version?
On the strength of missing information about those bus systems we can't give any informations too.

  • Will there be a REPULSE for the A1200 expansion port?
    No.

  • Which frequencies will be supported in hardware?
The audio codec supports following frequencies: 8 kHz, 16 kHz, 22.05 kHz, 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz.
    S/P-DIF frequencies: 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz and 96 kHz

  • What are 200 EUR in US$?
    Approximately US$ 200.
